Will order confirmation work as a free service conversation?

Only if the customer messaged you first in the last 24 hours. Otherwise the template fires as a paid UTILITY conversation.

Can I add a marketing offer like 'Save 10% on your next order'?

No — that promotional language reclassifies the template as MARKETING. Send the offer in a separate post-purchase message instead.

How many variables can the template have?

Up to 10 in the body. Buttons can hold dynamic URL parameters too.

What if the customer hasn't accepted WhatsApp marketing opt-in?

UTILITY templates only require transactional opt-in (a checkbox at checkout is enough). They do not require marketing consent.

Does Meta charge me even if the customer doesn't open the message?

Yes. Billing is per delivered conversation, not per read.

Can I use emojis in UTILITY templates?
